What is WWOOFÂź?

Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) links visitors with organic farmers, promotes an educational and cultural exchange and builds a global community conscious of ecological farming practices.

WWOOF was founded in 1971 and is one of the world’s first educational and cultural exchange programs. Today, WWOOF is in more than 132 countries around the world (and growing).

WWOOF in Belgium

WWOOF Belgium is the national organization helping to create local WWOOFing opportunities in Belgium and to promote sustainable farming as a lifestyle.

Visitors, or 'WWOOFers', share in daily life with their host and learn about organic agriculture, while spending about half of each day helping out on a farm.

Daniel is a very kind host that takes a lot of joy from hosting WWOOFers. As my first WWOOfing experience, I am very grateful to have had this experience learning and playing music with Daniel. Though there were some language barrier (I don't speak French), we still made do. In the garden there are ducks, goats, and chickens all of which I enjoyed feeding each morning. I helped in the garden and with some other simple tasks. It was a simple living arrangement in his home but I had a private room, a bed, and access to a bathroom with warm running water.

I am beyond grateful for my stay at the Kleinaart: everyday in the activities there was something new, productive, and engaging; the farm is beautiful; but most importantly, Jon and Ciel are such kind and passionate people. Thank you so much for this experience, I truly will never forget it :)

Jon has a dialed operation. If you want to know about the latest in regenerative agriculture, you will be in the right place. Through trial and research, he seems to have struck balance between business, livestock health, and amazing fruit production. The farm is expanding and changing so things are exciting! I really enjoyed my stay with Jon and his family, who immediately made me feel welcome, despite their busy schedules and my complete lack of ability to speak/understand Dutch. During my time on the farm, we picked apples for wholesale, and for the farm store, finished construction of a pig shed, worked in the greenhouses, did odds and ends, and went to a farmers' market. I only wish I could have stayed for longer than 10 days!

I had a positive experience in Vert d'Iris. I really recommend to take initiative and participate in the various activities, whether in the potager or in the kitchen. It's a nice place to meet people from different backgrounds and countries, and even though I didn't speak French, I felt very confortable. Thanks very much for the support during my visit!

Enjoyed my 10 days of wwoofing with Jon. What i enjoyed the most was the fact that it was so diverse. So not only picking apples and pears, but also looking after the vegetable tunnel and the animals. I even got to help out a bit on his new pig shelter and did some maintenance on his henhouse. Sleeping in the gypsy wagon was also very nice. Would definitely recommend wwoofing on Jon's farm.
