What is WWOOF®?

Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) links visitors with organic farmers, promotes an educational and cultural exchange and builds a global community conscious of ecological farming practices.

WWOOF was founded in 1971 and is one of the world’s first educational and cultural exchange programs. Today, WWOOF is in more than 132 countries around the world (and growing).

How it works

WWOOF in Belgium

WWOOF Belgium is the national organization helping to create local WWOOFing opportunities in Belgium and to promote sustainable farming as a lifestyle.

Visitors, or 'WWOOFers', share in daily life with their host and learn about organic agriculture, while spending about half of each day helping out on a farm.

The week at Emmanuels and Ceciles house, kitchengarden, foodforest where really nice. I did a bunch of different things: weeding, mulching, preparing the soil for the winter, helping by cutting herbs, "building" with oystershells, helping with cleaning for panting...harvesting and cooking. They are both very interesting share their lifeexpiriences and knowledge about cooking, gardening, travelling, natural building, art, yoga and suggest things to do in the suroundings ... They are flexible in timeschedules and respect the private sphere. Prince panda one of their cats is very cute to play and cuddle with. The chickens give nice eggs. I enjoyed a lot. It will be a pleasure to see and help them again.

Ik heb 4 heerlijke dagen gehad. Isabelle is een fijne gastvrouw. Je voelt je gelijk heel welkom. Ik heb veel verschillende werkzaamheden kunnen doen. Het was leuk om dit samen met anderen te kunnen doen. Weer veel verschillende mensen ontmoet in een heel ontspannen sfeer.

Ik heb een enorm leuke ervaring gehad bij Domein Marsnil. In het weekend plukten we druiven met een aantal vrijwilligers, en doordeweeks was het vooral onderhoud in de wijngaard en andere kleine klusjes. Er is altijd wat te doen :). Isabel is een enorm aangenaam persoon en voelde al snel op mijn gemak. Het eten (en vooral de wijn) was erg lekker en er werd heel goed voor mij een mijn mede-wwoofer gezorgd. Een aanrader, ik kom zeker nog eens terug!!

I am very happy to have come to Daniels garden for my First wwooffing experience. He is a very open and kind person and I felt really welcome. I barely knew french when I came there, only a little from Duolingo, but my language skills improved fast over the course of the two weeks I was there. It was always a joy to work in the garden, and I was Lucky to hear his wind orchestra Repetition which was amazing, along with many other beautiful Moments.

Thank you! I had a lovely time at La Ferme du Bocage. François is a very generous and welcoming host. He takes the time to teach wwoofers about sustainable fruit farming and ecological practices, and plans a wide range of activities. We made harvests, prepared orders, propagated fig trees and helped with some structural upgrades. We also had a lot of free time to explore the local walking routes and stunning landscape, or relax in the beautiful house. There were a few other wwoofers staying, and François created a good environment for us to cook together and spend time together.

Daniel a été très accueillant, très attentionné et il avait toujours beaucoup d’histoires à nous raconter! On a pu récolter des patates, planter des choux et des salades, assister à un karaoké d’un ami à lui et à une répétition de sa fanfare! On a fait beaucoup de balades, on a pu apprendre à cuisiner beaucoup de choses. Le sirop de sureau nous manque déjà beaucoup… Merci Daniel!!!

Mijn eerste woofing-avontuur was meteen een schot in de roos. De gastheer was een zeer inspirerende en warmhartige persoon en ik heb erg veel geleerd, zowel wat betreft ecologisch leven en tuinieren als het spreken van de Franse taal. Alles wat wwoof als doel heeft, kwam terug in dit verblijf. Ik ben meer dan ooit gemotiveerd en geïnspireerd tot een levenswijze met respect voor de natuur. Een unieke ervaring!
