Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) links visitors with organic farmers, promotes an educational and cultural exchange and builds a global community conscious of ecological farming practices.

WWOOF was founded in 1971 and is one of the world’s first educational and cultural exchange programs. Today, WWOOF is in more than 132 countries around the world (and growing).

WWOOF Belgium is the national organization helping to create local WWOOFing opportunities in Belgium and to promote sustainable farming as a lifestyle.

Visitors, or 'WWOOFers', share in daily life with their host and learn about organic agriculture, while spending about half of each day helping out on a farm.

I really appreciate the opportunity to live in the countryside of Belgium. Spending time here has been a truly valuable experience for me, not only because of the beautiful environment and peaceful atmosphere, but also because of the people I had the chance to meet along the way. Living away from busy cities allowed me to experience a different lifestyle, one that feels more connected to nature, community, and everyday simplicity. I am especially grateful to Virginie, the host, who welcomed me so warmly from the very beginning. She did not simply treat me as a guest, but as a genuine part of the team. Her kindness, patience, and generosity made me feel comfortable and supported throughout my stay. Thanks to her, adapting to a new environment became much easier and far more enjoyable. I truly appreciate all the conversations, guidance, and moments shared together. I would also like to express my sincere thanks to everyone I met during my time here. Every interaction, whether small or significant, contributed to making this experience memorable. I learned many things, improved myself in different ways, and gained perspectives that I will carry with me in the future. This stay has become one of the most meaningful experiences of my journey, and I will always remember the warmth and hospitality I received here. Big thanks to everyone for making my time in Belgium so special.

J'ai passé une semaine fantastique auprès de fanny, maraichère à Lierneux. Un grand merci pour son accueil chaleureux et confortable dans sa famille. Mais également pour sa confiance, elle m'a laisser accomplir des tâches au potager, j'ai appris beaucoup d'astuces sur les différentes plantes du potager, la manière d'entretenir, de semer, d'arroser :)). Fanny est très généreuse en conseil, en explication sur sa manière de pratiquer. De plus c'est une très belle région encore fort verte et naturelle. En un mot "Fabuleux", merci.

Jai vécu là-bas une belle expérience. Quel endroit impressionnant et paisible à la fois, le terrain est magnifique, rempli de fleurs et de plantes. C'est là que j'ai travaillé principalement au potager/à la serre. J'y ai appris pas mal de choses. J'ai reçu un très bon accueil des habitants du lieu. Une chose est sûre, on ne s'y sent jamais seul !

An inspiring visit to Romane's incredible project of a cheverie/fromagerie that's thoughtfully done in every way. Also recuperation is at the heart of her work in every way. So much to learn from Romane and her vision in so many ways - I'm grateful to have had the chance to spend 4 beautiful days with Romane, the goats ("les filles"), and many WWOOFers and others from across her community who are supportive and excited about her project. PS all her cheeses are exquisite and you feel all the care and nature that goes into them! You'll stay in a camper on her green lawn next to the mare and the male goat in peace and quiet, waking to the sunrise. Wonderful meals together make time to talk about all that counts in our worlds. There's much to do and discover at La Loge des Chèvres but also Romane wisely insisted on making time for me to explore the area as well (the ice cream place in Baelen is great!). Romane, thank you so much for all we discussed, all I learned, all the precious time with you - and wishing you much joy and wonderful continuation of all you do!

Un lieu enchanteur et des activités variées en belle compagnie. Durant le weekend, nous nous sommes occupés des cochons et des moutons, nous avons planté des capucines et des potirons et nous avons dormi dans une roulotte. En plus des moments conviviaux lors des repas avec nos hôtes, nous avons pu assister à un concert dans un charmant petit village. Deux journées pleines de découvertes et riches en apprentissages ! Un tout grand merci à Virginie pour son accueil et sa disponibilité :-)

My stay with Jon and his family was wonderfull. A variety of jobs to do on a beautiful farm, very diverse. Jon and his wife are very friendly en inspiring people, passionate about their work and life. Both their children are adorable. Communication was also super, as well as the place to sleep.

J'ai passé une semaine incroyable aux côtés de Bernard et Yaël, profondément marqué par la richesse des échanges humains et leur accueil d'une bienveillance rare. Un vrai bonheur de mettre les mains dans la terre dans leur jardin, un espace vivant et tellement inspirant. Je garderai un super souvenir de notre complicité autour du potager, notamment de leur impatience partagée à l'idée de récolter les toutes premières fraises de la saison ! Merci du fond du cœur à tous les deux pour cette parenthèse humaine et végétale, pour votre générosité et ces beaux moments de vie. Je recommande ce lieu les yeux fermés !"

Je suis très contente de mon expérience. J’ai eu la chance d’être la première wwoofeuse au Monastère d’Hurtebise, mais tout était déjà bien organisé et prêt pour accueillir un(e) wwoofeur(se). Sœur Marie-Christine a été une maîtresse de stage attentive, dynamique et pleine d’énergie. J’adore les jardins, et celui est absolument magnifique. Toutes les sœurs ont été accueillantes et attentionnées. C’est une communauté joyeuse qui apporte la paix dans l’âme. Le monastère est également très beau, soigné et propre, et la cuisine est excellente. En ce qui concerne le travail, rythmé par de merveilleuses messes chantées par les belles voix des sœurs, préparez-vous à apprendre, à faire quelques efforts physiques et à prendre un peu le soleil ! C’est un travail qui libère l’esprit et rend heureux. La région où se trouve le monastère est enchantresse. J’aimerais y retourner très vite.

J'ai passé un court (3 jours) mais néanmoins très bon séjour chez Bernard et Mélanie, qui sont très généreux sur le partage de leurs diverses expériences : voyage à pied, avec des ânes, mode de vie décroissant, occupation autour des activités de la ferme, connaissance des plantes ... Merci pour ce temps passé ensemble !
