ENGLISH Organic farm the kleinaart is a diversified horticultural farm in Ulbeek with strong agro-ecological principles. We work with a focus on biodiversity, soil, closing cycles and local anchoring. It also aims to be a place where people can come together and help enjoy the beautiful surroundings in Haspengouw. Our farm consists of a patchwork of hedges, wooded borders, wooded areas, water features and a wide variety of crops: apples, pears, plums, peaches, rhubarb and various vegetables. We also keep shropshire sheep in our orchards, which in addition to meat, also provide pest control and natural fertiliser. It is a developing business since the takeover in 2021. In previous years, orchards were uprooted, which we are now renewing year after year. Both standard, semi-standard and high density orchards orchards. We started a tree nursery to provide ourselves with trees and sell the surplus. Cider mill in progress. We started growing cider apples a few years ago. Accommodation can be provided year-round. There is a converted construction container with bed and electricity, and a room in the house is also possible. Shower and toilet are available in the house. Meals by arrangement, but usually possible with our family. Nous travaillons en mettant l'accent sur la biodiversité, le sol, les cycles de fermeture et l'ancrage local. L'objectif est également d'être un lieu où les gens peuvent se rencontrer et contribuer à profiter du magnifique environnement de Haspengouw. Notre ferme se compose d'un patchwork de haies, de bordures boisées, des petits bois, de plans d'eau et d'une grande variété de cultures : pommes, poires, prunes, pêches, rhubarbe et divers légumes. Nous élevons également des moutons shropshire dans nos vergers, qui, en plus de la viande, nous permettent de lutter contre les parasites et de fertiliser naturellement. Depuis la reprise en 2021, cette activité est en pleine évolution. Les années précédentes, des vergers ont été arrachés, que nous renouvelons maintenant année après année. Il s'agit de vergers haute tige, demi-tige et basse tige. Nous venons de créer une pépinière pour nous fournir en arbres et vendre le surplus. Cidrerie en cours de réalisation. Les pommes standard et une partie des pommes demi-standard sont utilisées pour la fabrication du cidre. L'hébergement peut être assuré toute l'année. Il y a une cabane de chantier aménagée avec lit et électricité et une chambre dans la maison est également possible. Une douche et des toilettes sont disponibles dans la maison. Les repas sont à convenir, mais il est généralement possible de les prendre avec notre famille. Wij werken met aandacht voor biodiversiteit, bodem, het sluiten van kringlopen en lokale verankering. Daarnaast wil het een plek zijn waar mensen kunnen samenkomen en mee genieten van de prachtige omgeving in Haspengouw. Onze boerderij bestaat uit een lappendeken van heggen, houtkanten, waterpartijen en een grote diversiteit aan teelten: appels, peren, pruimen, perziken, rabarber en verschillende groenten. Daarnaast houden we shropshire schapen in onze boomgaarden die naast het vlees, ook op een natuurlijke manier voor plaagbestrijding en bemesting zorgen. Het is een bedrijf in volle ontwikkeling sinds de overname in 2021. De voorbije jaren werden er boomgaarden gerooid die we nu jaar na jaar vernieuwen. Zowel hoogstam- halfstam- als laagstamboomgaarden. We startten zopas met een boomkwekerij om onszelf te voorzien van bomen en het overschot te kunnen verkopen. Cidermakerij in opstart. De hoogstamappels en een deel van de halfstamappels zijn bedoeld om cider mee te maken. Accomodatie kan jaarrond voorzien worden. Er is een omgebouwde werfkeet met bed en elektriciteit en een kamer in huis is ook mogelijk. Douche en toilet zijn in huis beschikbaar. Maaltijden in overleg, maar meestal bij ons gezin mogelijk. DUITS Der Biohof kleinaart ist ein diversifizierter Gartenbaubetrieb in Ulbeek mit starken agrarökologischen Prinzipien. Wir arbeiten mit dem Schwerpunkt auf Biodiversität, Boden, Kreislaufschließung und lokaler Verankerung. Er soll auch ein Ort sein, an dem Menschen zusammenkommen und die schöne Umgebung im Haspengouw genießen können. Unser Bauernhof besteht aus einem Flickenteppich aus Hecken, Waldrändern, Wasserspielen und einer großen Vielfalt an Kulturen: Äpfel, Birnen, Pflaumen, Pfirsiche, Rhabarber und verschiedene Gemüse. In unseren Obstgärten halten wir auch Shropshire-Schafe, die nicht nur Fleisch liefern, sondern auch Schädlingsbekämpfung und natürlichen Dünger. Seit der Übernahme im Jahr 2021 hat sich der Betrieb weiterentwickelt. In den vergangenen Jahren wurden Obstplantagen gerodet, die wir nun Jahr für Jahr erneuern. Sowohl Hochstamm-, Halbstamm- als auch Niederstamm-Obstgärten. Wir haben gerade eine Baumschule gegründet, um uns mit Bäumen zu versorgen und den Überschuss zu verkaufen. Die Apfelweinmühle ist in Arbeit. Die normalen Äpfel und ein Teil der halbstämmigen Äpfel werden zur Herstellung von Apfelwein verwendet. Eine Unterkunft kann das ganze Jahr über angeboten werden. Es gibt eine Baubaracke mit Bett und Stromanschluss und auch ein Zimmer im Haus ist möglich. Dusche und Toilette sind im Haus vorhanden. Mahlzeiten nach Absprache, aber in der Regel bei unserer Familie möglich.

I am beyond grateful for my stay at the Kleinaart: everyday in the activities there was something new, productive, and engaging; the farm is beautiful; but most importantly, Jon and Ciel are such kind and passionate people. Thank you so much for this experience, I truly will never forget it :)

Jon has a dialed operation. If you want to know about the latest in regenerative agriculture, you will be in the right place. Through trial and research, he seems to have struck balance between business, livestock health, and amazing fruit production. The farm is expanding and changing so things are exciting! I really enjoyed my stay with Jon and his family, who immediately made me feel welcome, despite their busy schedules and my complete lack of ability to speak/understand Dutch. During my time on the farm, we picked apples for wholesale, and for the farm store, finished construction of a pig shed, worked in the greenhouses, did odds and ends, and went to a farmers' market. I only wish I could have stayed for longer than 10 days!

Enjoyed my 10 days of wwoofing with Jon. What i enjoyed the most was the fact that it was so diverse. So not only picking apples and pears, but also looking after the vegetable tunnel and the animals. I even got to help out a bit on his new pig shelter and did some maintenance on his henhouse. Sleeping in the gypsy wagon was also very nice. Would definitely recommend wwoofing on Jon's farm.

Jon's farm is sooo beautiful. I felt really at home between the fruit trees, the vegetable garden and the little pond. We worked 4 hours a day, not on the Weekend ;), and mainly harvested pears, apples and vegetables. I really enjoyed the work and I already miss the farm. The whole family is very friendly and there is also a very lovely dog here who loves to be cuddled. As accommodation, I slept in a super nice old caravan and could use the bathroom in the house. The week here was soo great and I would definitely come again. I really loved it here. :)
