I'm Geert (51 yo) and I am a cook and a farmer. I grow vegetables, herbs, fruit and vegetables and will have a chicken coop next spring. I use part of the produce in my own catering and sell the rest in directly to consumers (weekly vegetable boxes). We also grow and sell flowers. In my house, you will find me, my daughter (13 yo part time) and my son (19 yo not very often). I don't have pets. Daily activities are planting, sowing, weeding and harvesting. We regularly do some small repairs (greenhouses, flat tire of a wheelbarrow, ...). We try to make a fresh lunch and take time to eat and enjoy. Sometimes we bake bread in de woodfired oven. The house is in biking distance from my house. L'orto e la cucina means: the vegetable garden and the kitchen. We combine growing food, cooking (classes & pot lucks) en eating together. Breakfast is at your own time and in your own portions. On working days, we have lunch together. Diner is always together. For preparing lunch and diner, we take turns. Meals are based on seasonal vegetables in the farm, the rest we buy in a shop nearby. Meals are mostly vegetarian, meat and cheese can be options but mostly not mixed in the dish. Accomodation is in the well renovated attic of my house, bathroom and toilet are shared. In the summertime, you can also stay/sleep in a yurt on the farm. My daughter likes swimming, knitting and drawing. I myself like cooking ( I'm a cook), reading and being outside. The farm is at 5km from the city center of Leuven (an vivid city with a lot of activities). There is a lake where you can have a dive and you can easily take a train to Mechelen of Brussels Je m'appele Geert. La ferme est en fait un très grand potager (90% légumes / 10% fruits) avec des poulets. L'orto et la cucina est literallement 'le potager et la cuisine' donc on cultive les légumes et ont fais la cuisine (catering, workshops, ...)
