* We host volunteers for 2 weeks. Please reply if you can commit to the full 2-week period. We are Hanna & Thibaut and we are running a permaculture project in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes. Thibaut is a 35 years old biologist and a secondary school science teacher specialized permaculture & self-sufficient community farming. Hanna is a 30 years old Ayurvedic practitioner and specialized in medicinal and wild plants and craftmanships. Our project is called Premaculture, which is a mix of permaculture and bhakti-yoga. The project started 5years ago and is part of the Hare Krishna community. It's a new form of ecological agriculture rooted in Vedic principles such as compassion, service, self-awareness, meditation and respect for all living beings. It is a spiritual community of around a 100people (from dozens of different countries) who live according to Vedic principles (as set out above) and is aiming to reach self-sufficiency in the upcoming years (via the project). Here we practice a way of life in harmony with nature and in reconnection with our true self. We are an "asbl" (non-profit-making organization). >>> If you want to: - Learn, deepen or put into practice your knowledge of permaculture/organic farming - Experience a spiritual community lifestyle in harmony with nature that aims to achieve self-sufficiency in the upcoming years, - Practice yoga in its various forms and explore its most authentic origins (bhakti yoga) - Live daily on love and fresh water, service and happiness, music and healthy vegetarian and indian meals. >>> And that you're willing, in exchange, to..: - Help in the garden 4-5 hours a day, 5 days a week in exchange for accommodation and hearty vegetarian meals... Then you've got to come and try the experience! The accomodation is a fully equiped dormitory, seperated for male and female. Mattresses and litter are provided. Both dormitory's have their own bathroom. Laundry and Wifi are available. 3 times a day hearty vegetarian meals. Impossible to be hungry here ;) Our Hare Krishna community offers diverse activities: daily traditional Indian music meditation, yoga, spiritual programs, and ceremonies. Every Saturday we perform music in different Belgian cities, and over 20 annual festivals (such as Holi and Krishna Janmashtami) take place here. We also play football, frisbee or volleybal. We have a bakery, boutique, library, restaurant, and a stable with cows and oxen. City services and shopping are available in nearby Marche-en-Famenne, Durbuy, and Barvaux. Durbuy, a charming medieval town, is just 10 minutes away.

I had such an incredible time with Thibaut and Hanna that I already planned my next stay ! They are growing an amazing project to make a 100+ people community self-sufficient. They are developing a system of units that can feed up to 10 people , with a green house, garden and food forest. Everything is pretty low tech and circular which is super interesting to see. We were 6 volunteers in total and the atmosphere was super nice between volunteers. We were working in the morning and were free in the afternoon. They also have a Yurt where you can go and relax. We had a super nice sound bath relaxation session there ! Hanna and Thibaut always made sure that all the volunteers were super comfortable and had everything they needed. The girls dorm is cosy ( with a bathroom) and can fit up to 3 girls. The Prema culture project is within an Iskon community so it was also a super experience to get to know their way of life. Everyone is super welcoming, you can join any ceremony in the temple ( but nothing is mandatory and no one is ever pushy). I especially liked to join the kirtan signing in the evening. It feels like a little part of India in the Belgium countryside. There is also a restaurant, bakery and a shop on the site, but you will probably never be hungry enough to go because the food you get as a volunteer is just incredible ! Thank you again for your kindness, I'm already looking forward to coming back :)
